History of The Travel Academy

The Travel Academy was established in 1984 under the name American College Travel. Our focus was on training individuals to work in the travel industry.

Research showed that within the next decade, automation would become the standard in the travel industry, so The Travel Academy integrated programs that provide each student access to the Worldspan Global Distribution Reservation system, as well as the tour-booking tools WorldAgent and Vax.

With student interest growing in the fields of aviation, hotels, car rental companies, and cruise lines, The Travel Academy expanded its curriculum and added additional hands-on components with Flight Attendant and Travel Agent training. In 2011, we also began expanding our Cruise Ship training. As one of the longest-standing travel schools in the United States, we have strong connections with industry employers and up-to-date knowledge of employment trends for the future.
