In lieu of cruise line week at the TTA, the class is discussing major cruise lines in the industry, including brand recognition in the media. The votes are in- our favorite commercial is Royal Caribbean’s latest Super Bowl XLV Commercial, featuring the shell phone.
The Royal Caribbean International commercial showcases a treasure from the deep (a conch shell) with a sprightly voice calling adults’ and children alike to embark on a royal journey to the sea.
The ad features soon to be vacationers, itching to escape from their ordinary lives, and reconnect with the sea. The alluring shell voice urges its audience to listen close, welcoming those who would like to go out dancing, eat in amazing restaurants, get a massage, and even children who want to zipline. The reaction varies from, excited kids exclaiming “I’m talking to the sea!” an eager woman asking “Can I go now?” and “Will we talk when I get there?” After which, the shellphone says, “Yes, we’ll talk when you get there!”
