The Travel Academy Experience

since our last email...

  • In recent months, the Travel Academy has been working closely with Norwegian Cruise Line to hire our students to fill their shipboard positions.  On May 18, Norwegian recruiters attended The Travel Academy's Job Fair. So far, they have hired at least 7 students: Felicia S. from Georgia, Konstantin K. from Maryland, Heather B. from Massachusetts, Alex H. from Illinois, Jennie D. from Maine, and EJay R. from Arizona. All offered different positions onboard the "Pride of America" ship cruising the Hawaiian Islands. Some of the positions offered were Cabin Steward and Supervisor, Jr. Servers, and Utility positions. NCL plans to add another ship to its fleet and their recruiters will be returning to the Travel Academy to recruit for these future openings.
  • Another company frequently working with The Travel Academy is Compass Airlines, a Delta Connection Carrier. They were unable to attend our Job Fair, but invited all of our students to attend their  Invitation-Only Open House in Minneapolis. So far Jennifer C. from Tennessee and EJay R. from Arizona, who was also offered a position with Norwegian Cruise lines, have been offered Flight Attendant positions based in Minneapolis. They will officially start their careers on June 20! Compass hires starting at 18 years of age, and hires people well into their 60's! You can also be as tall as 6'4"!
  • You may think that it's difficult to become a Travel Agent ; not after The Travel Academy training! American Express, the largest travel company in the world, attended our Job Fair looking to hire 15 Corporate Travel Agents in their Bloomington MN office alone! They met one-on-one with many of our students about their job opportunities. Our current student Bethany N from Minnesota and past graduate Carri L. from Minnesota both had final interviews last week!   AAA Travel also attended, interested in recruiting travel agents both locally and nationally! Carlson Wagonlit Travel was in our office last week speaking with our students for employment opportunities as well.  In addition, many independent travel agencies have been contacting The Travel Academy looking to hire our students.
  • Mesaba Airlines, a Delta Regional Carrier, contacted the Travel Academy to invite our students and graduates to their flight attendant open house interviews in Minneapolis. Brandi C. from New York, Ejay R. from Arizona, Jennie D. from Maine, Hayde G. from California, and Timeka W. from Indiana will be receiving a call back for final interviews next week.

They are looking forward to hearing back in a few weeks regarding the final step in their interview process. Mesa will be returning to the TTA to recruit additional flight attendant candidates.
  • Did you know that the Travel Academy also trains students to work in airport positions such as ticket agents, gate agents, customer service agents, or ramp agents? One example of this is our graduate Cindy B. from Minnesota who attended our class VIRTUALLY. She was offered a position with Frontier Airlines as a Customer Service / Gate Agent at the Minneapolis St. Paul airport. She's working alongside our 2006 graduate Nikki W. from Maryland.
  • "My virtual training experience at The Travel Academy was priceless!  Becoming a virtual student allowed me the opportunity to attend the training I needed to start my new career in travel, while keeping up with a very busy schedule.  Not only was I able to finish my training in just 6 weeks, I graduated an honor student as well. The very first interview I had after graduation, I was offered the position.  I interviewed with Frontier Airlines, and they called back 24 hours later saying that I was their top candidate for a full time customer service position. I could not have expected a better outcome from my training at The Travel Academy. The instructors were top notch, and had a great variety of knowledge; they made learning fun and easy. I highly recommend the virtual training experience for anyone who wants to quickly and conveniently launch a new career in travel!" Cindy B. Frontier Airlines, Customer Service Agent

They are compassionate and understanding- special kudos to Jackie, the Placement Director, who is very helpful, considerate, and accommodating. The Travel Academy prepared me for my newly founded and exciting, leisure career. I can now help my family, friends, co-workers, and their families make their travel dreams come true.
