Flight Attendant Jobs Strong – Salle Mae Loans Discontinued May 7th
Flight Attendant positions continue to lead travel industry job opportunities. However other areas of the travel industry are showing strong signs.
Mesa Air Group visited The Travel Academy again April 9 to interview students for flight attendant positions. Next anticipated visit is scheduled for the week of May 25. Mesa Air Group is a very dynamic airline that consists of: Mesa Air, United Express, Delta Express, US Airways Express and Hawaii Airlines. They are currently hiring flight attendants at their bases in;
PHX - Phoenix, AZ
DEN - Denver, CO
GJT - Grand Junction, CO
CLT - Charlotte, NC
ORD - Chicago O'Hare, IL
IAD - Washington-Dulles
JFK - New York/JFK Airport
CVG - (New Base) OH
In addition there are at least (Lori please insert the number rough estimate is fine) more airlines hiring for flight attendants. There are numerous other airlines hiring for reservations and ticket/gate agent positions.
INDUSTRY UPDATES:
JetBlue reported a $12 million profit in the first quarter of 2009!
Travel Weekly reports: Allegiant Travel Company, parent company of Allegiant Air and Allegiant Vacations, reported net income of $28.2 million in the first quarter of 2009.
Researchers say people are traveling but trips are shorter. “The need for people to get away is very strong,” said researcher Stanley Plog, chairman of BestTripChoices.com. “In discussions with operators, agencies and suppliers, what I’m finding now is universally that inquiries are increasing. It’s starting to turn around already.”
U.S. arrivals hit record numbers in 2008 – The U.S. hosted a record 58 million foreign visitors in 2008, an overall 4% increase, the Commerce Department reported. Canada, the perennial leader, generated 18.9 million visitors, a 7% increase.
Aero Mexico discounts fares for agents’ personal travel April 22, 2009
Aero Mexico launched Amigos Fares, deeply discounted fares that can be used only by IATAN-registered travel agents in the U.S. and Canada.
The airline said Amigos Fares offer a 90% discount on unrestricted economy fares for nonstop flights to Mexico and a 75% discount on connecting flights. Companion fares are discounted 85% on nonstop flights and 75% on connecting flights.
Marriott CEO sees signs of a turnaround - Bill Marriott says he thinks the hotel business is starting to stabilize. "We think we’ve seen the worst … and may be poised for an uptick." Leisure travel, he said, is strong. As for business travel, Marriott said the company was seeing "really good, strong transient business."
